Carole Surfus... Well, they are all upset that they are unable to produce a baby and even more so since they don't know what is wrong. After trying all options, including in vitro fertilization, adoption was suggested. "Blood is a powerful thing, and when you adopt, you don't know whose blood you're bringing into your house." This was General Taheri's opinion on it, and Soraya's was similar. She said "I've always dreamed that I'd hold in in my arms and know my blood had fed it for nine months....that the baby would grow up and have your smile or mine." No one was too happy about their "Unexplained Infertility."

It is easy to tell that all three are upset about Soraya not being able to have children. What frustrates them even more is the fact that it is an "unexplained Infertility" Soray is against adoption because she wants to carry a child and have that nine month bond with them. "I've always dreamed that i'd hold it in my arms and know my blood had fed it for nine months, that i'd look in its eyes one day and be startled to see your or me", Soraya wants to feel the baby inside of her growing, she wants people to be able to see her or Amir in the babies face, they way he acts and looks when its older. Soraya wants HER baby and nobody else's. The General is so against adoption because he only cares about blood. "Blood is a powerful thing, bachem, and when you adopt, you don't know whose blood you're bringing into your house." He wanted Soraya to have a baby on her own so that he knew his blook and his familys blood ran strong the babies veins. Amir just wants Soraya to be happy, he wants her to do what is in her interest and he will agree.

Hmmm, are Soraya's feelings as strong as the Generals? To the same degree. Carole, don't let quotes stand alone , always make them part of a sentence.
